Always in Style: White Whites

There are certain basics in a wardrobe that are essential and need to be replaced about once a year. My number one item (well, two items) are the classic white tee shirt & white tank top. Do you reach for one of these at least three times a week in the summer months since they go with absolutely everything; under this, with a sweater, over a swim suit, to go for a walk, etc? One of my spring rituals is to go through the closet (mine & anyone else’s I am allowed) and purge all the older, stained, not-so-fresh looking white tees & tanks. This is actually a very rewarding task. It saves lots of time when you are in the thick of summer and want that crisp new feeling that can only be had with an absolutely white article of clothing.

For a real treat on the tee/tank, visit Petit Bateau, the French line of tees, also know for its excellent infants cotton knits (my husband insists on the classic Hanes for him).

This exercise can be duplicated with all of your white items. Think; socks, canvas sneakers, white pants, white sweaters, & yes, underwear. White items in particular cannot be worn with stains. A little bleach stick throughout the year does wonders, but when certain clothes become just too ‘worn’, they deserve a respectable replacement.
