Cottage style decorating uses that bright, yet romantic look that takes you to a sunlit French country home, or a little English cottage surrounded by flowers. It’s just what I’d been thinking, wanting, and dreaming about, but I hadn’t realized what an easy look it would be to create.

Many things would change my living room and give it a charming cottage style. The walls were already white, so painting wasn’t needed. I decided to take down my old heavy drapes and replace them with simple light curtains.

After measuring each window, I went in search of plain rods to mount at the tops. Next, a stroll through the window treatment area and a look at tab top curtains was in order. Some of these would work very nicely, however I wanted to look at a few different types before making any decisions.

Tab top curtains won out, because I found them in lightweight cotton. The soft cream color was sparsely dotted with pinpoint flecks of several of my favorite colors. Picking up an extra set of panels gave me the option to make matching pillows. I set a vase of fresh flowers on a small table near the window, and voila!

Just one afternoon, and my living room took on the fresh, soft, and comfortable cottage look I wanted. Do you have some money saved and want to invest it improving your home? Check out price range specific remodeling suggestions at Front Door
