There is a look and feel of a crisp white shirt that makes me feel I can do anything. It can work with any outfit; an important meeting, with jeans, even with a taffeta skirt at a black–tie affair. What ever it is, most can agree, a classic white shirt is a wardrobe staple. Today, I am dedicated to offering some options on this classic as I have just cruised by a neighborhood Gap and saw a vast variety ready to jump off the shelves as me. I really wanted to get at least 4 versions as I could envision each with something different in my closet.
The Fitted perfect shirt – a classic look to give you a curve at the waist (my favorite, un-tucked with a pair of jeans). A local tailor can do wonders with a few tucks here or there to get it almost custom fit for the perfect look.
Ruffle Rib – A twist on the classic has ruffles on the chest, flair of frill. My suggestion is to pair with a skirt (or pants) for an energized day at work or add some extra starch and a dressy skirt to a party.
The Oxford – preppy with button down collars and casual demeanor. These have been around for decades and are truly casual at its best with summer shorts, a pair of pants, over a bathing suit. The sleeveless version is also a summer favorite of mine.
Ruffled collar – ruffles on cuffs and collar, a hint of dressy. This is not as much flounce as the other ruffle, but just enough to give a little extra when peering out from under a blazer.
Check out the Gap and search women’s white shirts for a great selection.

Very nice article Mary Kate.
Too bad though that those perfect white shirts don’t stay perfect.
