To manage your life effectively, especially in these tough times, you have to learn to manage your stress levels. Researchers have discovered five simple steps you can take daily to reduce your stress:

  1. Connect with friends and family.
  2. Be Active, exercise, dance
  3. Be curious about the world around you.
  4. Learn something new each day.
  5. Give to strangers and friends.

Now anyone who knows me, knows that I’m as likely to follow that advice as I am to eat five servings of fruit and vegetables a day. Here’s what I think we “stressed out” sisters should do!

  1. Disconnect for ten minutes a day by locking yourself in the bathroom. Whistle.
  2. Be inactive. Wherever you are, right now, just plop on the floor and remain motionless. Do this in a high traffic area of the home. It’ll shock the family in a satisfying way!
  3. Stop being curious. Who cares how the kids got spaghetti in the washer? Replace curiosity with chocolate.
  4. Teach. Teach the kids that the dishwasher can be operated by minors. Teach your husband that folding laundry isn’t exactly origami.
  5. Put yourself on the list. Give yourself the gift of knowing that you’re valuable, worthy and lovable even when you’re serving your own needs.
