If you are like me, the one thing you don’t care for on the radio is the commercials. Now there is a quick and easy way to listen to a radio station that only plays songs you like, with no commercial interruption.
Jango is a unique online application you can use to custom design one or more stations of music to ensure that you always listen to stuff you like. You can open it in its own tab on your PC or laptop, and listen to all your favorite artists while you go about your daily business.
The setup is easy:
1. After joining, you simply start looking for artists you like, and adding them to your station list. As songs come up and begin to play, you have the option to click an emoticons to vote them in or out.
2. A maniacally grinning emoticon shows that you absolutely love that song and want it to play it a lot; a smiley face indicates that the song is great, but only needs to be played occasionally; and a frowner that means you hate the song and never want to hear it again. This slowly refines your play list until you have the perfect blend.
3. You can make separate play lists for different styles and genres – I have eclectic taste and like a mish-mash, but my best friend thinks it’s sacrilege for Fergie and The Dixie Chicks to occupy space on the same wavelength! That’s OK – I have one huge play list and she has ten short ones. We both agree that ‘no commercials’ is the best part of Jango!
4. You can’t exactly ask for a certain song to play on demand, but you can check to see if it is currently playing in someone else’s station. If it is, you can simply click to tune in, and listen to their selections for a while. Like many social sites, you can make friends, send shout-outs to folks whose play lists you have enjoyed, and comment on artists, music and videos.
